Some residents of Ashaiman have hit the streets in a protest to call on authorities to fix deplorable roads in the area.
The protest, which began in the early hours of Tuesday, October 3, 2023, was dubbed “Ashaiman deserves better”.
According to protestors, the bad roads in Zenu, New York, and Atadeka all the way to the Ashaiman main station need urgent fixing as they slow down daily activities and cause heavy traffic.
“We pay taxes and we deserve better. Ashaiman deserves better”, a woman said.
Some commercial drivers who joined the protest also indicated that they always park their vehicles whenever it rains in order not to damage their vehicles.
The protest is made up of market men and women, the young and old say the only way the government and authorities will hear their voices is through demonstrations hence the decision to hit the streets.
So far, the police have ensured a peaceful protest.
