The flag bearer of the National Democratic Congress, NDC, John Dramani Mahama has criticised President Nana Akufo-Addo and Vice President Mahamadu Bawumia for their incompetent management of the economy and poor governance.

Mr. Mahama argued that their leadership has severely damaged Ghana’s democratic reputation, which has reached an unprecedented low in the history of the 4th Republic.

He emphasised the importance of the 2024 election in restoring faith in Ghana’s constitutional democracy and holding the current administration accountable for the high levels of corruption and the state of the economy.

Mahama, leading the National Democratic Congress in the 2024 polls, underscored the need for genuine accountability, which he believes cannot be achieved if the same party and officials responsible for bringing Ghana to this critical point are still in power.

He pledged to provide visionary and selfless leadership if elected, starkly contrasting the NPP’s incompetence.

“I can assure you that the John Mahama administration from January 7, 2025, will be different. I promise visionary and selfless leadership and not the business-as-usual approach of the NPP”, the statement added.

Mahama reminded Ghanaians that they have 463 days remaining to go to the polls and that the 2024 election will be “the people’s true verdict.”

He urged Ghanaians to remain vigilant and engaged and demand accountability from their leaders to safeguard the core values of democracy.

“The upcoming December 07, 2024, election is therefore crucial to restoring faith in our constitutional democracy”, he noted, adding that “Akufo-Addo and Bawumia must be held accountable for the corruption and deteriorating conditions under their watch over the last almost seven years.”
