The Greater Accra Regional Hospital (Ridge) has responded to a viral social media video involving an emergency case at its facility, expressing deep concern over the disruption caused.
In a statement issued on Monday, August 18, 2025, management explained that relatives and friends of an accident victim stormed the emergency triage, creating chaos that disrupted medical procedures and endangered both staff and patients.
According to the hospital, the situation escalated when a nurse on duty was assaulted, an act it described as “unacceptable.”
The Ghana Police Service was subsequently called in to restore calm, allowing clinicians to resume care for the victim.
The hospital emphasized that the safety and well-being of staff and patients remain its top priority and warned that interference, aggression, or assault toward clinicians puts lives at risk.
It also cautioned against recording videos or taking photographs of patients and medical staff without consent, stressing that such actions violate hospital regulations.
The statement, signed by Head of Public Relations Juliana Haruna, reassured the public of Ridge Hospital’s commitment to delivering quality healthcare while urging relatives and visitors to grant clinicians the space and respect required to work effectively.
