The Central East Regional Police Command has secured the conviction of 25-year-old Kolie Samuel, who has been sentenced to 14 years imprisonment for robbery and an additional 5 years for causing harm, with both sentences to run concurrently.

The conviction was handed down on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, by the Ofaakor Circuit Court, following Kolie’s guilty plea to the charges.

According to a statement signed by DSP Victor Kofi Dosoo, Head of Public Affairs for the Central East Region, the incident occurred on July 10, 2025, around 5:30 a.m. near Golden Pride Preparatory School at Millennium City in the Gomoa East District of the Central Region.

The convict was reported to have attacked a female victim, robbing her of her handbag which contained an iPhone 16 Pro Max and a purse with an unspecified amount of cash.

A police investigation was launched immediately after the incident.

“Through intelligence-led investigations and with the assistance of the victim, the suspect was tracked and arrested at his hideout at Ngleshie Amanfro, a suburb of Accra, on the same day,” the statement noted.

During a search conducted at the time of his arrest, police recovered the victim’s iPhone and other items suspected to be proceeds of additional robberies.

These included a Dell laptop, two Itel mobile phones, one Nokia phone, one Alcatel mobile phone, a Vodafone WiFi device, two pairs of AirPods, a gold necklace, three wristwatches, a ladies’ purse, a wallet containing a health insurance card bearing the name Kwapong Sahnan, and ten memory cards.

The police believe these items may have been stolen in other similar incidents and have initiated further investigations.

“The Central East Regional Police Command remains resolute in its commitment to ensuring the safety and security of the public by bringing perpetrators of such crimes to face the full rigors of the law,” DSP Dosoo emphasized in the statement.
