Rock City Hotel, Ghana’s largest and most prestigious hotel, in partnership with Consolidated Bank Ghana (CBG), will host a community health event aimed at promoting breast cancer awareness and encouraging blood donations.

The event, scheduled for Saturday, October 26, 2024, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Mpraeso Lorry Station in Kwahu, will include free breast cancer screening and a blood donation exercise.

Certified healthcare professionals from Atibie General Hospital and Holy Family Hospital, Nkawkaw, will be on-site to conduct the screenings.

The initiative is especially targeted at women aged 40 and above, or those with a family history of breast cancer, as early detection is critical in increasing survival rates.

Attendees will also receive education on self-examination techniques and recognizing early warning signs of breast cancer.

In addition to the screenings, the blood donation drive aims to help replenish stock at local hospitals, ensuring a steady supply of blood for medical emergencies.

Donors between the ages of 18 and 65 who meet basic health criteria are encouraged to participate.

This initiative forms part of the corporate social responsibility efforts of both Rock City Hotel and CBG.

According to the General Manager of Rock City Hotel, Mr. Sam Ayumba, the event underscores the company’s commitment to the well-being of the community.

“We believe that it is our duty to contribute to the health and safety of the people we serve,” he said.

A CBG spokesperson echoed similar sentiments, noting that the partnership with Rock City Hotel allows them to make a meaningful impact on people’s lives by addressing critical public health issues.

With two of Ghana’s most trusted and respected organizations coming together, this event is expected to have an enduring impact on the health of the community and demonstrate the power of collaboration in addressing critical public health issues.
