Rock City Hotel’s Catherine Wangui Wanyiri, has been awarded the ‘Most Admired Executive Housekeeper’ prize at this year’s Hospitality Awards Africa event held last Saturday, November 26, 2022, at La Palm Royal Beach Hotel.
The Hospitality Awards Africa has over the years rewarded and recognized outstanding department heads and team leaders that promote excellence and demonstrate great leadership qualities in their various hotels, resorts, restaurants, and bars.
For the 2022 edition of the Hospitality Awards Africa, Catherine Wangui Wanyiri was named the Most Admired Executive Housekeeper in August 2022.
Catherine Wangui Wanyiri started her housekeeping career in 2003 at Banyan Tree Spa and Resort in the Seychelles, where she worked as a housekeeping clerk and villa attendant. She has also worked in countries including; Seychelles, Bahrain, China, Qatar, Kenya, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Cameroon and Ghana.
She has progressed professionally while serving in the position of senior housekeeping Supervisor for many hotel businesses.
Together with housekeeping teams in the various countries, Catherine has worked in; she has collaborated to improve the smooth and successful operation of this business to achieve profitable growth.
In 2022, she began working at the Rock City Hotel, which is recognised internationally as one of the largest hotels in its class and will have approximately 2,200 rooms when completed, ranking 50th in the world with amenities and facilities unmatched.
The first phase is now available for business with over 600 rooms operational.
The second phase will be completed with the rest of the rooms and all other entertainment features.
