Thieves have stolen all the roofing sheets and school desks from Akyem Oda St. Andrew Anglican Basic school – ‘B’ building at Oda in the Birim Central Municipality in the Eastern region.
The thievery took place when school wasn’t in session, according to the Assembly Member for the area.
Papa Yaw Amoah, the Assembly Member for Aseneɛ electoral area speaking to the media revealed that he was surprised to see all the roofing sheets been completely stolen from the building including all the metal chairs from the classroom.
He revealed that the other ‘A’ side of school building was affected by rain storm sometime ago when the roofing of the buildings were ripped off, forcing authorities to move all the pupils from the ‘A’ to the ‘B’ block. Fortunately for the school the building was re-roofed by the government which made way for pupils to move back into the ‘A’ block.
He added that plans and arrangements were ongoing for the ‘B’ block to be re-painted for the ‘B’ pupils to be move back into their building, however, things took a different turn when they woke up to see all the roofing sheets and school desks been mysteriously stolen by unknown persons.
He is therefore calling on the government, individuals and other agencies to as a matter of urgency help re-roof the building for the pupils to make use of the block.
