Sam George tells Bawumia to ‘shut up’ over Ablekuma North violence

Ningo-Prampram MP and Minister for Communications, Samuel Nartey George, has sharply criticized NPP flag bearer Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia over his condemnation of the violence that erupted during the parliamentary rerun in Ablekuma North.

In a scathing social media post on Friday, Sam George questioned Bawumia’s moral authority, stating:

“Someone should tell Bawumia to shut up. What did he say about Ayawaso West Wuogon in 2019?”

His reaction follows Bawumia’s statement decrying the chaos at the St. Peter’s Society Methodist Church polling station, where unidentified men reportedly stormed the venue, physically assaulting voters, including former Fisheries Minister Mavis Hawa Koomson and NPP candidate Nana Akua Afriyie.

Dr. Bawumia warned that Ghana’s democracy could be undermined if such acts go unpunished.

“This will be a recipe for disaster if each political party raises its own army,” he cautioned, urging President John Mahama to ensure the perpetrators are brought to justice.

But Sam George pointed to Bawumia’s silence during the infamous 2019 Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election, where security officers assaulted opposition supporters—a widely condemned event both locally and internationally.
