President John Dramani Mahama has appointed Mr. Sammy Gyamfi Esq. as the Acting Managing Director of the Precious Minerals Marketing Company (PMMC), entrusting him with the pivotal task of setting up the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod).
The creation of GoldBod is a key initiative outlined in the National Democratic Congress’s (NDC) 2024 manifesto. Under the supervision of the Minister for Finance, the Ghana Gold Board is set to play a critical role in the sustainable management and marketing of the country’s gold resources.
The initiative is expected to formalize the small-scale mining sector, enhance mining support services, and contribute to the Mahama administration’s broader goal of economic revitalization.
Mr. Gyamfi, a seasoned lawyer and Economic Policy Analyst, brings a wealth of expertise to the role. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science and a Bachelor of Law from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, as well as a Barrister at Law certificate from the Ghana School of Law.
Additionally, he earned a Master of Arts in Economic Policy Management from the University of Ghana and has completed executive programs in Emerging Leadership and Strategic Leadership at the Harvard Kennedy School.
Mr. Gyamfi’s professional background includes a stint with Exton Cubic Group Limited, a leading mining company in Ghana.
He is also well-known as the National Communications Officer of the NDC, further underlining his strategic and leadership capabilities.
The Ghana Gold Board, once established, will mark a significant step toward formalizing and optimizing Ghana’s gold industry, ensuring that its benefits are equitably shared among the citizenry.
