Samuel Awuku, the Director-General of the National Lottery Authority (NLA), has officially resigned from his position, effective January 13, 2025.
His resignation comes shortly after his election as Member of Parliament (MP) for the Akuapem North Constituency.
In a formal letter addressed to President John Dramani Mahama, Mr. Awuku expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to serve as the head of the NLA, a position he held since August 2021. He was confirmed by the Public Services Commission in July 2022.
Mr. Awuku cited his new responsibilities as an MP as the primary reason for stepping down, stating his intention to fully dedicate himself to serving his constituents.
“This decision allows me to focus my efforts on fulfilling my mandate as a representative of the Akuapem North Constituency in Parliament,” he noted.
The outgoing Director-General also requested the appointment of a suitable replacement to ensure a seamless transition and continued efficiency at the NLA.
President Mahama is yet to announce a replacement for the NLA leadership role.
