Samuel Boateng builds and hands over GH¢30,000 OPD Facility to GHS in Wassa East District

Samuel Boateng a.k.a "Sea water" who is a native of Nsadweso in the Wassa East district of Western Region has handed over a fully furnished state of the art Outpatient Department [OPD] facility to the Ghana Health Service in the district to enhance quality healthcare delivery in the area.

Samuel Boateng a.k.a “Sea water” who is a native of Nsadweso in the Wassa East district of Western Region has handed over a fully furnished state of the art Outpatient Department [OPD] facility to the Ghana Health Service in the district to enhance quality healthcare delivery in the area.

According to the philanthropist, the cost of the project is Gh30,000.00 and it took him two months to complete the project.

During the commissioning ceremony at Nsadweso, Samuel Boateng explained that he was passing by to visit his site where he is building his house and saw that the patients including pregnant women, children and the aged who were going for treatment at Nsadweso clinic were stressfully standing under trees. So, he was touched to stop his personal project to build OPD for the clinic.

Mr. Yaw Emmanuel Afaku is the Wassa East district director of health who received the facility on behalf of Ghana Health Service expressed a profound appreciation to Samuel Boateng for the kind gesture to promoting quality healthcare delivery in the district.

Mr. Yaw Emmanuel Afaku also lamented on the skyrocketing rate of teenage pregnancy in the Wassa East district. Adding that the situation is very alarming in the district.

According to the Wassa East district health director, 14% of all registered pregnancies in the district are teenagers with ages of: 10, 11, 12,13 and 14yrs respectively. He urged the traditional rulers to intervene to curb the situation.

Nana Yaa Nyantah (I), the Queen Mother of Nsadweso also thanked Samuel Boateng and appealed to the people who are the beneficiaries of the facility to always keep the edifice clean to maintain its beauty.

She also sounded a word of caution to the teenagers to desist from premarital sex resulting in teenage pregnancy and focus on their education.
