Scores of passengers have lost their lives after a deadly head on collision that occurred at Nkawkaw – Oframase on the Accra – Nkawkaw Highway.
Preliminary report by Republic FM’s Barima Atuobi Sarfo indicated that the police could not provide the actual number of people that lost their lives, however, he maintained that several people had died.
The incident was reported to have occurred at 7:30am Wednesday morning, June 25, when a VIP bus with registration number GR-2399 collided with an incoming cargo truck that was carrying flour.
According to Barima Atuobi, the driver of the truck could not be found as of the time of the report. The collision also left several passengers of the VIP Bus having their bodies dismantled into pieces.
The injured and the deceased have since been moved to hospital for medical assistance.
Barima Atuobi blamed the accident on the overly visible potholes on that stretch which has caused many similar accidents.
Security personnel and National Road Safety vehicles have towed the cargo truck from the accident scene.
The police and the Kwahu West Municipal Fire Department are yet to release an official report on the incident.
