The Prestea Government Hospital has received a brand-new ambulance to enhance emergency healthcare delivery, courtesy of the Second Lady of Ghana, H.E. Samira Bawumia.
The vehicle was presented on Friday, November 15, 2024, by the NPP Parliamentary Candidate and Board Chairperson of the Minerals Commission, Mrs. Barbara Oteng-Gyasi.
The donation fulfilled a promise made on behalf of the Second Lady during the commissioning of the hospital’s Children’s Block on December 12, 2022. Although H.E. Samira Bawumia could not attend the event as a special guest, her commitment to providing the ambulance was reaffirmed by Hon. Oteng-Gyasi.
Speaking at the presentation ceremony, Hon. Oteng-Gyasi expressed gratitude to the Second Lady for her dedication to improving healthcare, particularly for women and children.
She highlighted Mrs. Bawumia’s numerous contributions over the past eight years and appealed to constituents to support the NPP in the upcoming elections, emphasizing the positive impact of a potential administration led by Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and H.E. Samira Bawumia as First Lady.
The ambulance becomes the fourth in the Prestea Huni-Valley Municipality. It complements one provided under the government’s One District, One Ambulance initiative, another allocated to the new Bogoso Hospital, and a recent donation by Hon. Oteng-Gyasi on behalf of the First Lady, H.E. Rebecca Akufo-Addo, to the Huni-Valley Health Centre.
Municipal Health Director, Mr. Timothy Ansah, commended Hon. Oteng-Gyasi for identifying the hospital’s urgent need for an ambulance and successfully lobbying for its provision.
He acknowledged her efforts in improving healthcare in the municipality and urged residents to support leaders committed to the area’s development.
This donation underscores the commitment of the Second Lady and the NPP to improving healthcare infrastructure and accessibility across the country, ensuring that even rural communities have the resources needed to save lives.
