Seven people have reportedly died and 21 others sustained injuries in a road crash on the Hwidiem-Acherensua Highway in the Ahafo Region.
The crash occurred on Tuesday, September 8, and involved a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter bus with registration number GT-9931-09 and a Kia Picanto registered BA-731-20.
Preliminary findings indicate that the Sprinter bus suffered a tyre burst, causing the driver to lose control of the vehicle.
The bus subsequently somersaulted and crashed into the Kia Picanto.
Personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) at the Hwidiem District Fire Station responded to the scene and rescued the victims.
The injured were later transported to St Elizabeth Hospital in Hwidiem for medical attention.
The GNFS says investigations are ongoing to determine the full circumstances surrounding the crash.
Meanwhile, Ahafo Regional Fire Commander, ACFO II Samuel Ferdie Tetteh, visited the injured at the hospital and wished them a speedy recovery.
The fatal crash has renewed concerns about road safety and the need for motorists to ensure their vehicles are roadworthy before embarking on journeys.
