Seven people have been severely injured after a Rhino truck lost control, crashed, and overturned on the Atibie-Kwahu road.
According to a victim, Asiamah, who spoke to myrepubliconline.com reporter Andy Frimpong Manso, the truck lost control while descending toward Nkawkaw township. The incident occurred around 6 p.m. on Friday.
After experiencing brake failure, the driver attempted to steer the truck into the roadside gutters but instead crossed over and collided with the side walls before overturning.
“We were descending from Atibie when the driver lost control of the brakes. He aimed for the gutter, but unfortunately, we crossed it and hit the side wall before the truck overturned. Seven people have been critically injured. Those of us at the back jumped out, but those in the front and middle couldn’t,” Asiamah explained.
The vehicle was transporting spinners and funeral equipment from Atibie to Yaw Korkor in the Kwahu West Municipality.
The seven injured have been hospitalized at the Kwahu Government Hospital in Atibie and are receiving treatment.
Footage taken by the news team shows the truck’s cab heavily mangled, indicating the severity of the crash.
