The Suame District Court has remanded seven military officers, including senior personnel and a driver, into Military Police custody over the alleged assault and death of two young civilians in Kumasi. The incident occurred on March 28, 2025, when the victims, Kwame Adu (also known as Ogee) and Kwabena Sarfo, were arrested alongside Christian Obiri Yeboah (popularly known as Kofi Yesu) over accusations of stealing an iPhone belonging to another civilian.

The three young men were taken to the 4th Infantry Battalion barracks, where they were allegedly subjected to severe beatings. Two of the victims were later found dead in a bush at Danyame, a suburb of Kumasi, while the third victim, Obiri Yeboah, was found alive and receiving treatment. According to the police prosecution, the victims were beaten at the barracks before being dumped.

The seven military officers were charged with murder and conspiracy to commit murder and appeared before the Suame District Court on Tuesday. Prosecutors requested prison custody for the accused while investigations continue, but their lawyers argued for Military Police custody. The presiding judge upheld the latter request, remanding them until the next hearing on April 22, 2025.

Relatives of the deceased, who were present in court, reiterated their calls for justice and accountability. The family members had reported Adu and Sarfo missing and later identified their bodies at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital morgue .
