As part of the Homowo clean-up exercised under the auspice of the Ga Traditional Council, led by the Ga Mantse, King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, all shops in Accra are closed today, Tuesday, July 2 2024.
The clean-up exercise is to enhance cleanliness and beauty of the environment while fostering a spirit of unity and responsibility.
The Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) has announced that the Homowo clean-up exercise will begin at Sempe, Gbese, Abloa, Asere, and the Dogo Beach in Ga Mashie from 6:00 am to 12:00 noon.
The assembly in a statement signed by the Head of Public Affairs, Gilbert Nii Ankrah has urged shops, marketplaces, and businesses to remain closed on the scheduled date for the clean-up, however, transport service, Pharmaceutical and health facilities are exempted.
Mr. Ankrah further highlighted that the clean-up activities have been grouped into six (6) zones covering the entire region with Zone 1 comprising areas within the AMA and three [3] sister Assemblies.
“The program which is grouped into six (6) zones covering the entire region aims to unite community members under the leadership of Niimei and Naamei to enhance the cleanliness and beauty of our local environment while fostering a spirit of unity and responsibility”, Mr.Ankrah stated.
