Leading telecommunications company, MTN Ghana has opened more service centers across the country.
According to MTN, the reason for opening more service centres to speed up the registration process is as a result of the long queues.
In a statement released by MTN Ghana, the telecommunication giant informed the general public that, registration is now taking place at all of its office branches, connect stores, distribution branches, light retail stores as well as retail centers and agent tough points across the country.
The statement noted that the measures were taken to eradicate overcrowding of the customers at their main offices.
The nationwide SIM Card Registration Exercise commenced on 1st October, 2021.
The 6-month exercise is expected to end on 31st March, 2022. The Exercise would help develop and build a SIM database with integrity, which will assist in the curbing of fraudulent activities and the securing of SIM Card based transactions.
It will also aid in the determination of the accurate number of valid SIM cards on the various telecommunication networks at every point in time.
In accordance with Regulation 7(l) of the National Identity Register, the Ghana Card is the only Identification Document that shall be used for individual SIM Card Registrations.
