The employees of Single Man Contractors Association (SMCA) have obtained a warrant from the Greater Accra regional police command to conduct a peaceful protest in Accra on December 6, 2022, demanding payment for their three years’ of unpaid wages.

As part of the measures, the association will walk through Accra’s main principal streets after which they will petition the Minister of Roads and Highways, Hon. Kwasi Amoako Atta.

In an intimate conversation with the National Organiser, Mr John Atta Asem, he vehemently proclaimed that they could no longer bear the miseries, perhaps pleading with the government to intervene before things get out of control.

“We are going to march through Accra’s major thoroughfares on December 6, 2022, to demand prompt payment of our 36 months’ worth of unpaid salary arrears. If their salaries haven’t been paid, I doubt the Ministers will make it to now”. He stated.

However, the disgruntled employees have promised to take whatever steps necessary to receive their money.

“After serving the country, we cannot endure suffering once again. We were required to weed the sides of the highways and clean the culverts in the cities. We have been working for more than three years without being paid. How do they anticipate us to endure? We demand payment as soon as possible from the Finance Ministry, the relevant stakeholders, and the Hon. Kwasi Amoako Atta, Minister of Roads and Highways”.
