Six students from Aggrey Memorial Senior High School are currently in police custody in connection with a violent assault on a final-year student from Adisadel College that occurred during the inter-colleges sports festival.
The incident took place on Friday, February 20, at Pedu Junction. According to an official statement issued by the Ghana Police Service, the victim, Rexford Owusu-Ansah, was intercepted by the group while leaving the Cape Coast Stadium with two friends.
After confirming the boys’ affiliation with Adisadel College, the suspects allegedly initiated an unprovoked attack. While his companions managed to escape, Owusu-Ansah was apprehended, assaulted, and robbed of an iPhone 17 Pro Max, his shoes, and GH¢ 1,400 in cash.
Medical reports from the Cape Coast Regional Hospital, where the victim received treatment, revealed severe injuries, including a fractured bone near his right eye, and noted that the victim is currently unable to open the eye due to severe trauma to the eyeball.
The suspects, aged between 13 and 17, were handed over to the Kotokuraba Police Station by Aggrey Memorial school authorities later that evening and have been identified as Samuel Ankuri, Gad Akologo, Lartey Jasse, Scott Okyere, Lord Yamoah, and Jerome Appiah Toku.
