Police in the Volta Region have arrested six individuals, including a fetish priest and a priestess, in connection with the gruesome discovery of three human bodies at a shrine in Adidome, located in the Central Tongu District.
The operation, led by the Regional Crime Officer, Superintendent Mick Omari Boakye, was carried out on Monday, culminating in the exhumation of the bodies from a shrine situated in Blorkope, a short distance from the Adidome Township along the Sogakope road.
According to information gathered, the incident traces back to December 4, 2024, when 24-year-old Nelson Anyena was reported missing around 7:00 p.m. in Adidome.
A formal report was filed on December 17, 2024, and the case was subsequently transferred to the Volta Regional Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for further investigation.
After months of covert investigations, supported by community cooperation, police made a breakthrough on June 30, 2025, leading to the arrest of the first three suspects: Bedzo Courage, also known as Dzidefo (25), Wisdom Hedidor (31), and Augustina Fiawoyipe (21), a fetish priestess.
Preliminary findings indicate that the victim, Nelson Anyena, was allegedly involved in a romantic relationship with Augustina, who was already in a sexual relationship with another suspect, Wisdom Hedidor. Investigators believe this relationship triangle may have led to the murder.
After being killed at a yet-to-be-disclosed location, Nelson’s body was transported to the shrine. Investigations suggest that the body was sold to the fetish priest, Noah Gblor (42), along with Yohanes Gblor (27) and John Gblor (40), for ritual purposes at a reported cost of GHS7,000.
Police reports indicate that the deceased’s head/neck, arms, and legs/thighs were dismembered and buried beneath the principal deity at the shrine, while the torso was interred in an abandoned shrine on the same premises.
During the operation, which drew large crowds of onlookers held back by police crime scene tape, law enforcement officials searched the premises and uncovered two additional unidentified human remains.
A source close to the investigation disclosed that when questioned, Noah Gblor, the man in charge of the deity, denied knowledge of how the additional bodies came to be there. He claimed he inherited the shrine from his late father.
