Firefighters from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) Anyinam Fire Station responded to a road traffic accident at Akyem Enyiresi on the Kumasi–Accra Highway.
The accident, which occurred near the WAPCO Filling Station, involved a Toyota Vitz travelling from Accra to Kumasi and a Hyundai Santa Fe heading in the opposite direction. Eyewitnesses reported that the Toyota Vitz veered off its lane, resulting in a head-on collision.
A seven-member fire crew led by STNOII Kubetew Alfred arrived at the scene minutes after receiving the distress call. However, six casualties, four men and two women, had already been rescued by bystanders and conveyed to the Enyiresi Government Hospital before the firefighters’ arrival.
Both vehicles sustained partial frontal damage. The fire crew completed operations and returned to base shortly after ensuring the scene was safe.
