The Member of Parliament for Anyaa-Sowutuom, Emmanuel Tobbin, has confirmed that the son of traditional leader Nuumo Ofori was among the victims killed during Saturday’s violent Homowo clashes between Anyaa-Sowutuom and Omanjor.

In a statement, the Police identified the deceased as Abubakar Ramadan Sarbah, also known as Nii Kwashiebu, Theophilus Nii Amu Kwadjan, and Joseph Shaibu Dodoo. Four others sustained injuries, including Enoch Amevor, who has since been treated and discharged. Other victims—Samuel Adjei, Nathaniel Doku, and Frederick Lartey, popularly called Nii Obrafour—are currently receiving care at facilities including Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital and Ridge Hospital.

Speaking in an interview on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem, Mr. Tobbin revealed that the chief’s son was shot multiple times after he was sent to mediate a misunderstanding over the sprinkling of kpokpoi near a boundary at Mensah Addo.

However, it is not immediately clear which of the trio of deceased is Nuumo Ofori’s son, as the lawmaker did not reveal his name.

“He was shot about ten times, from the head to other parts of the body. This is no small matter because Nuumo Ofori is not an ordinary chief. The entire community witnessed what happened,” the MP said.

He noted that tensions remain high, with nearly 200 young men converging at Nuumo Ofori’s palace on Sunday, their mood strongly suggesting thoughts of retaliation.

He, however, appealed to the community to remain calm as police investigations continue, noting that efforts are underway to engage leaders from both sides to restore peace.
