A delegation from Star-Ghana Foundation, led by Chairperson Hamdiya Ismaila, paid a courtesy call on the Speaker of Ghana’s Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, to congratulate him on his re-election as Speaker of the Ninth Parliament.
The Chairperson lauded Speaker Bagbin’s exemplary leadership, noting that his re-election reflects his commitment to advancing Ghana’s democracy and governance.
In his response, Speaker Bagbin expressed his appreciation for Star-Ghana Foundation’s longstanding support for Parliament, spanning over a decade. He highlighted the foundation’s contributions, not only in providing resources but also in delivering technical expertise that has bolstered the Parliament’s global standing.
“The foundation provides not only resources but technical know-how. This has helped the Parliament of Ghana gain global recognition,” he remarked.
Speaker Bagbin acknowledged Star-Ghana’s pivotal role in the development of the 2019-2024 Parliamentary Service Strategic Plan and invited the foundation to collaborate on the next phase.
“We are now developing the 2025-2029 strategic plan, and we want to draw on your immense experience and expertise in this regard,” he added.
The Speaker also emphasized the importance of the new Standing Orders, which have established several committees aimed at enhancing parliamentary efficiency.
These include committees on Economy and Development, Ethics and Standards, Human Rights, Budget, Security and Intelligence, Youth, Disability, and Gender, among others.
Acting Clerk to Parliament, Mr. Ebenezer Ahumah Djietror, joined in expressing gratitude to Star-Ghana Foundation, commending its unwavering support for parliamentary initiatives.
The visit reinforced the collaborative relationship between Parliament and Star-Ghana Foundation, with both parties committing to advancing strategic priorities for national development.
