The Greater Accra Regional Minister, Henry Quartey, has vowed to relocate onion sellers at Agbogboshie to Adjen Kotoku market in the Ga West Municipal of the Greater Accra Region.
The Minister’s reason for relocating the onion traders stems from the ‘‘Let’s Make Accra Work’ campaign where the removal of unauthorized traders along some major streets, the pulling down of unauthorized structures, and carried out decongestion exercises and other sanitation drives aimed at ridding the capital fifth are being executed.
Speaking on NET 2 Tv, Hon. Henry Quartey pledged to make the campaign work regardless of any form of attack on him.
He alleged that he has uncovered a plot by some onion sellers at Agbogboshie to have him killed spiritually over plans to relocate the them to the abandoned Adjen Kotoku market.
Henry Quartey said nothing will stop him from doing his work as part of the ‘Let’s Make Accra Work’ campaign.
According to him, so far as God exists, nothing will happen to him.
“Whether they like it or not, we will move them because we have made an alternative arrangement for them. I have heard they have gone to some mallam [spiritualist] to kill me. They are kidding. They should tell the mallam [spiritualist] to return to his hometown because so far as God exists, nothing will happen to Henry Quartey by the grace of God, and by July 1, 2021, we shall move them” he insisted.
Meanwhile, the Chief of Adjen Kotoku Nii Quaye Chumor II, said during a press conference that he officially welcome Agbogbloshie onion traders to the Kotoku market.
His only appeal to government is that it will provide the community with street lights, public toilets and other social amenities.
