The Minister for Youth and Sports, Hon. Mustapha Ussif on Wednesday September 8, 2021, assured the Ghana Cricket Association of government’s support for future international competitions.
The Minister made these remarks when the Association presented a trophy they won at the just ended International Cricket Council (ICC) Games in Rwanda.
The Minister congratulated the team for the honour done the nation and urged them to put up adequate preparations for the impending Tournaments.
Hon. Mustapha Ussif tasked the Association to submit their program of activities as well as their budget for next year and the upcoming World Cup qualifiers slated for next month through the National Sports Authority so that the Sports Ministry can support them as he pledged earlier.
“I have been following the National Cricket Team for a long time, because I am a die-hard fun of cricket ” he stated.
The Minister added that he would ensure the equitable distribution of resources to all sporting disciplines in the country.
On his part, the President of the Ghana Cricket Association, Mr. Emmanuel O. Asare expressed his gratitude to the Minister for his encouragement and assured him that, the team will prepare adequately for future assignments to win more laurels for the country.
He further noted that the National Cricket Team was engaged in bilateral games in Rwanda recently and played five games and Ghana won 3 out of the 5 and had come to present the trophy to him.
He therefore took the opportunity to appeal to the Sports Minister to come to their aid as they lack the necessary infrastructure for the playing of the sport.
