The Ministry of Youth and Sports has condemned the recent violence that occurred at the Sunyani Coronation during a Betpawa Premier league game between Bofoakwa Tano and Nsoatreman FC.
Fans of Bofoakwa Tano were left frustrated after they drew with their opponent which resulted in the assault coach of Nsoatreman FC, Maxwell Konadu and a match official.
The Ghana Football Association subsequently banned Bofoakwa from using their home ground while a committee investigates the incident.
In a statement by the Youth and Sports ministry, such acts of violence should not have a place in football and has charged the GFA to work closely with stakeholders to enhance security at various match venues across the country and investigate the incident.
“Football is a unifying force and it is disheartening to witness incidents that tarnish the beautiful game”, the statement said.
The ministry further wished all victims a speedy recovery and urged football lovers to uphold the values of fair play.
