The Director-General of the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT), Kofi Bosompem Osafo-Maafo has announced that the organization has made significant strides in improving its service delivery by reducing paperwork and embracing digital technology.
He shared this update at the SSNIT Employers’ Breakfast Meeting held at the La Palm Royal Beach Hotel on Thursday, September 5.
The event was themed “Maximizing the Use of Digital Platforms to Improve Contribution Collection and Payment.”
In his remarks, Mr. Osafo-Maafo emphasized that the 2024 Employers’ Breakfast Meeting would focus on the digital services and channels SSNIT has implemented to enhance user experience.
“We are working diligently to improve our service delivery and ensure the sustainability of the trust,” Mr. Osafo-Maafo said. “The goal of this engagement is to discuss our progress, introduce new services, and strengthen our relationships with stakeholders.”
He noted, “This meeting aims to provide better services and make pension delivery more seamless and efficient. We acknowledge past complaints about delays in pension payments and administrative processes, and we have been working to improve our delivery times.”
During the event, Richard Manu, Manager for the Self-Employed Enrolment Drive (SEED), introduced the SSNIT Digital Bouquet, launched in Elmina on August 19, 2024. This initiative allows individuals to make contributions through e-payment platforms.
Mr. Manu highlighted that SSNIT has introduced a self-service portal (website and portal), electronic payment platforms (SSNIT Mobile App), and a USSD option for contributions (USSD Platform).
He reported that the initiative has successfully registered 114,984 individuals from the informal sector, with over GH¢61.6 million in contributions collected as of August 31, 2024.
