The Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) has inaugurated a new branch office at Spintex, a bustling industrial and commercial corridor in Accra.
The launch forms part of the Trust’s broader strategy to expand its physical presence and bring essential social protection services closer to workers and businesses.
This newly opened branch is SSNIT’s 52nd nationwide, with a 53rd branch set to be commissioned in Adentan, also in Accra, by the end of the month.
At the official opening ceremony, SSNIT Director-General, Mr. Kwesi Afreh Biney, explained that the decision to establish a branch in Spintex was driven by the area’s rapid growth and its transformation into a major business and industrial hub.
“Spintex has become a focal point for business activities, and it was only right that we situate a branch here to meet the social security needs of this dynamic community,” he stated.
“This is a strong affirmation of our commitment to improve accessibility and convenience for all our stakeholders.”
Mr. Biney further emphasized SSNIT’s commitment to digital transformation, revealing plans to complement its physical branches with robust virtual platforms.
In addition to its current USSD code, website, and mobile app, the Trust intends to launch its first virtual branch in the third quarter of 2025.
“With this virtual branch, members can access services around the clock. Whether you need to speak to a benefits officer, compliance personnel, or a branch manager, all you’ll need to do is dial in. We are creating a 24-hour service experience to align with the government’s vision for a round-the-clock economy,” he said.
He also noted the growing use of digital payment platforms like Mobile Money (MoMo) among Ghanaians, stressing the need to modernize and expand SSNIT’s digital infrastructure to match user behavior and expectations.
Despite reaching 52 physical branches, Mr. Biney acknowledged that many districts still lack direct access to SSNIT services. To address this, the Trust will continue leveraging partnerships with financial institutions and other stakeholders to extend its reach, especially to underserved areas.
Also speaking at the event, Mr. Philip Kofi Senyah, Acting General Manager for Operations at SSNIT, highlighted the importance of the new branch in strengthening customer service delivery.
“The Spintex branch represents a strategic milestone in our effort to bring our services closer to the people, particularly self-employed individuals and businesses in this fast-growing enclave.
It is about delivering greater convenience, enhanced accessibility, and an improved customer experience,” Mr. Senyah remarked.
