French League 1 club, Stade Rennais, has completed the signing of Ghanaian defender Alidu Seidu from Clermont Foot on a four-year-deal.
The deal is understood to be around the region of €11 million plus add ons.
The 23-year-old’s impressive form saw him made 89 first team appearances for Clermont Foot, helping Pascal Gastien’s team earn promotion from Ligue 2 at the end of the 2020-2021 season.
He becomes the fifth Ghanaian player to play for Stade Rennais after John Mensah, Asamoah Gyan, John Boye and Kamaldeen Sulemana.
” Stade Rennais is a great club and it’s a great privilege for me. I had a great time at Clermont, they gave me everything and welcomed me like a member of the family. I became a man there, and the adventure continues at Rennes and I’m very happy about that. I’m a player who doesn’t like to lose, I’m a fighter, I give everything for my colleagues and I’m always looking to progress. I’m very close to Kamaldeen Sulemana, and I get on very well with Christopher Wooh. The rest of the players I’ve met on Ligue 1 pitches, and I’m sure things will go well in the dressing room,” he told club website.
