A student, Regan Kwesi Egbe Addo, also known as Morgan Addo, has appeared before the Dansoman Circuit Court, facing allegations of withdrawing a total of GH¢24,849 from two GCB Bank customers’ accounts without their consent.

Addo has been charged with two counts of stealing in separate incidents and pleaded not guilty to the charges.

In the first case, the prosecution told the court that on September 17, 2025, Addo allegedly posed as a GCB Bank staff member at the Ministries ATM in Accra. He reportedly convinced the customer to follow him to the Société Générale Ghana Bank branch at Premier Towers.

According to Chief Inspector Christopher Wonder, who led the prosecution, Addo stood behind the complainant while he entered his personal identification number (PIN) and later offered to “clean” the ATM card chip, during which he allegedly swapped the card.

The prosecution said Addo subsequently withdrew GH¢14,949 from the victim’s account at several locations in Accra, including the Kempinski Hotel and the Shell Fuel Station in Airport City. Police reportedly reviewed CCTV footage from GCB Bank to trace both Addo and the complainant’s movements.

In a separate incident, Addo is alleged to have used the same method to withdraw GH¢9,900 from the account of a female customer, who is also a staff member of the Ministry of Fisheries, on December 23, 2025, around 4:40 p.m.

The complainant contacted the police after learning of Addo’s arrest, following his appearance on a police wanted list for similar ATM card thefts in the Accra Central Division.
