Former head coach of the Black Stars, James Kwesi Appiah, has reportedly been named as the new head coach of Sudan’s men’s national team.
According to reports, Kwesi Appiah has agreed to a 3-year deal to lead the Falcons of Jediane.
Appiah was appointed head coach of the Black Stars in 2012 and led the team to the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil, but was fired after Ghana was eliminated in the group stage.
After he left the Black Stars job in 2014, he was appointed as manager of Sudanese Premier League side Al Khartoum until 2017, when he was re-appointed to replace Avram Grant as the Black Stars coach.
He was sacked two years later after he guided Ghana to the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Egypt, where the team exited the tournament in the round of 16.
The 63-year-old has since been away from active coaching after ending his spell with the Ghana senior national.
