Bright Aweh, the prime suspect in the high-profile murder trial of Immigration Officer Stephen King Amoah, has publicly maintained his innocence.

Speaking to the media for the first time on Monday, January 19, 2026, Aweh denied any involvement in the killing and expressed his readiness to face the legal process.

Addressing the press, Aweh described the ongoing legal proceedings as a painful ordeal but insisted he remains resolute in his pursuit of exoneration.

“I am passing through this painfully for justice to be served. I am not a murderer; I did not kill my friend. I will go through it for justice to be served,” he stated.

The case dates back to July 2025. Stephen King Amoah, a 38-year-old officer, was first reported missing on July 4, 2025.

According to police reports, Mr. Amoah had left his home the previous day to meet a friend at Ashongman Estate to settle a financial matter.

The search ended in tragedy five days later on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, when his partially burnt body was discovered in a gutter at Abuom Junction, near Kwabenya. Despite the severe condition of the remains, family members were able to identify him at the Police Hospital morgue.

The Accra Regional Police Command arrested Bright Aweh on July 10, 2025, following digital and forensic evidence.

Investigations revealed that Aweh was the last person known to have contacted the deceased prior to his disappearance.

While the prosecution builds its case around the meeting scheduled at Ashongman Estate, Aweh maintains that while they were friends, he played no part in the officer’s death.

The trial continues as the justice system seeks to uncover the truth behind the gruesome murder.
