Six individuals accused in the murder of popular Asante Kotoko supporter, Francis Yaw Frimpong, also known as Pooley, have named a man identified as Braimah as the primary assailant in the case.
According to a police fact sheet presented at court proceedings on February 17, the suspect, Braimah, remains at large.
Samuel Sarfo Duku, Esq., the Communications Director for Asante Kotoko, addressed the press following the court session.
He confirmed that, based on police investigations, all six accused individuals have admitted that Braimah was the one who fatally stabbed Pooley.
Duku shared the details with journalists, stating, “One person is still at large. He is called Braimah, and per police facts, he actually stabbed the deceased person.
According to police facts, all the accused persons have admitted that it was that guy, Braimah, who is now at large, who stabbed Pooley to death.”
Bail
In court on Monday, His Worship Eric Daning granted the bail application to Agyemang Duah Owusu, a police inspector who was the second accused person in the first case.
He had earlier been denied bail, however, on his second appearance, his lawyer argued that the Attorney-General and the State Prosecutor had not filed any affidavit in opposition to the bail application.
Additionally, he argued that the real suspect had been identified by the police.
He was therefore granted bail to the tune of ¢300,000 without any investigation with two sureties.
He was also directed to deposit his passport at the registrar’s office within three days and will reappear alongside the other two accused persons in the first case on March 10.
Bail Refusal
Meanwhile, the court denied bail to Isaac Fosu, Yeboah Augustine, and Yaw Koshy.
The three were denied bail on their first appearance even though two others- Elizabeth Akosua Ntiwa (Akosua Black Chinese) and Yaa Asantewaa- who were arraigned alongside in the second case were granted bail.
The court directed that their lawyers formally file an application for bail and serve a copy of the application to the A-G office five days before the next court date, which is March 3.
Review of Order
At today’s hearing, the court reviewed its orders in respect of the first case, allowing Hon Baffour Awuah, the former Employment Minister and Kyeremeh Joseph who were granted bail earlier to report to the police once every week instead of daily.
Also, they can now travel outside Sunyani without the permission of the court.
Meanwhile, the order that directed them to deposit their passport at the court is still in force.
