The Takoradi District Court, presided over by Her Worship Catherine Obiri Addo, has remanded 25-year-old Bernard Kojo Ankrah in police custody for the alleged murder of his gay partner, Jones Carlos Rodrigues Da Silva.
Ankrah and Da Silva, who had been in a romantic relationship and often met at a hotel in Accra, had a troubling encounter on October 12, 2024.
Da Silva invited Ankrah to Takoradi, offering thirty thousand cedis for their meeting.
After Ankrah received twenty thousand cedis, he declined further advances from Da Silva, leading to a heated confrontation.
During the altercation, Ankrah allegedly stabbed Da Silva three times before fleeing the scene with the deceased’s mobile phones and Prado vehicle.
CCTV footage captured Ankrah entering the apartment with Da Silva and later driving away in the stolen car, which ultimately led to his arrest.
Ankrah is set to reappear in court in two weeks.
Meanwhile, Da Silva’s body has been repatriated to his home country.
