Hon. George Mireku Duker, Member of Parliament for Tarkwa Nsuaem Constituency, has urged residents to rekindle the communal spirit and conduct regular clean-up exercises in their neighbourhoods.
He stated that keeping the environment clean would not only improve their community’s image but would also help to prevent the spread of communicable diseases.
Hon. Duker appealed to his Constituency to conduct a clean-up exercise in communities such as New Atuabo, Cyanide Junction, Tarkwa Central Market, and the old Tarkwa Station to clear choked gutters and weed bushes along the streets.
He emphasised the importance of community leaders humbling themselves and uniting the people in order to bring needed development to his constituency.
The MP urged people not to see their participation in self-help projects as a government-imposed burden, claiming that communal labour helped to accelerate development.
He then praised the clean-up exercise’s organisers for their meticulous planning and coordination.
“Our commitment in this regard will surely lead the country to productivity, progress and prosperity.
