Despite his plea, the court ordered his remand while the prosecution, led by Chief Inspector Portia Nuarko, continues its investigations.

The case has been adjourned to April 7, 2025, allowing time for further inquiries and cross-examination by the defense counsel.

Brief fact

Chief Inspector Portia Nuarko narrating the facts of the case in court, stated that the proprietress of the school, who resides in the same community, had arranged for the victim and her 12-year-old younger brother to stay in a school-provided accommodation -due to the distance between their home and the school.

The accused, a computing and career technology teacher at the school, resides in Awoshie Mangoasi.

The court heard that to prepare the victim and her classmates for the upcoming Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), special morning and after-school classes were organized. The accused and his colleagues volunteered to teach these students.

In the month of December, 2024, the accused allegedly took advantage of the vulnerability of victim and had unprotected sex with her.

After school on Tuesday March 11, 2025, the victim’s younger brother met the accused and the victim in a classroom and he became suspicious of them.

The accused however cautioned the witness not to inform anyone of what he saw. Not convinced, the witness called the proprietress on phone and made a complaint to her.

Following the complaint, the accused was brought to the Anyaa Police Station and a formal report was filed. A medical form was issued to the complainant for the victim to be medically examined.

The medical report dated March 15, 2025, proved positive for defilement. The report further confirmed the victim is pregnant for six weeks two days.

During investigation, the accused admitted the offence. He stated that he took advantage of the victim in the school’s computer Laboratory. He was charged with the offence and brought before the court.
