Hon. Martin Kwaku Adjei-Mensah Korsah, the Member of Parliament for Techiman South in the Bono East Region, has expressed regret over the post-election violence that resulted in the deaths of two people in the constituency on December 8, 2019.

Some people became casualties of security-indiscriminate shootings at the Techiman South election results collation centre during the 2020 elections.

During his vetting by Parliament’s Appointments Committee on March 5, 2024, the Minister-designate for Local Government, Decentralisation, and Rural Development, answering a question from Hon. Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, the MP for Techiman North Constituency, explained that the incident was regrettable because the New Patriotic Party and the National Democratic Congress formulated measures to ensure a peaceful election, which unfortunately ended in violence.

In a clarification from Hon. Emmanuel Armagh Kofi Buah, NDC MP for Ellembele, to find out what he has personally done for the affected families, Hon. Martin Adjei-Mensah Korsah revealed that one of the two hit by stray bullets from the shooting was his nephew, adding that he had visited the families of the others and had become closer to them, and is currently working to ensure such an incident does not happen again.

Hon. Adjei-Mensah Korsah added that a five-bedroom house is currently being put up for the families of the victims and that the hospital bills of the others have also been taken care of.
