Telcos to increase data bundle beginning July 1 – Communications Minister

The government through the Communications Minister, Samuel Nartey George has revealed that major mobile network operators in Ghana such as MTN, Telecel and Airtel -Tigo will be increasing their data bundle beginning Tuesday, July 1, 2025.

This move is in direct response to improve internet accessibility and affordability for users nationwide.

At a press briefing held on Tuesday, June 10, Sam George, detailed the upcoming changes, emphasizing the government’s commitment to expanding digital inclusion across the country.

The Minister announced that Ghana will implement a 10% boost across all its existing data bundles.

Sam George stated “Starting July 1, Ghana will offer a 10% increase in all data bundles currently offered by the network. Additionally, the GHC400 bundle, which currently offers 195 gigabytes of data, will now offer 236 gigabytes of data.”

Similarly, Ghana Telecommunications Company Limited (Telecel) will also increase its data bundles by 10%.

“Ghana Telecommunications Company Limited- Telecel, also a 10% increase in all data bundles currently offered by the network. Their GHC400 bundle, which currently offers 90 gigabytes, will offer 250 gigabytes from July 1,” he stressed.

Also, Scancom Ghana Limited (MTN) will lead with a 15% increase in all its data bundles.

“Scancom Ghana Limited-MTN has a 15% increase in all data bundles currently offered by the network.”

Sam George also announced the reinstatement of the GHC399 bundle, which had been modified to a GHC350 bundle offering 92.88 gigabytes.

He said “I’m pleased to announce the restoration of the GHC399 bundles, which have been changed to the GHC350 bundle that offers 92.88 gigabytes, will be reinstated to 214 gigabytes for GHC399,”

He also noted that his engagement with CEOs of the various Telcos resulted in these measures.

These adjustments according to the minister reflect the government’s ongoing efforts to make digital services more accessible and affordable, thereby fostering greater connectivity and economic growth throughout Ghana.
