Ten-man Accra Hearts of Oak suffered a 3-0 defeat against Karela United in the betPawa Ghana Premier League on Saturday, at the Crosby Awuah Memorial Park in Anyinase.

Karela took an early lead after sixteen minutes in the first half, as Emmanuel Owusu Boakye converted Fatawu Mohammed’s cross with a fine header.

Impressive Fatawu Mohammed sent in another dangerous cross into the Hearts of Oak 18-yard box in the 32nd minute, which resulted in an own-goal from Konadu Yiadom to give Karela United a 2-0 lead in the first half.

A poor Hearts of Oak side had more problems as defender Rashid Okine, who was the last man, got sent off after he fouled Abdul Ayeh, who was on a break to score, just before the first half break.

The home side controlled much of the game in the second half and completed the victory with a third goal from Richard Berko in the 87th minute.

The results mean Karela moves to 11th position in the league table with 29 points, while Hearts of Oak sits 4th with 35 points, after playing two more games than Kotoko, who is behind Hearts.
