Tension is brewing in Prampram as well-built men alleged to be land guards from Kasoa have invaded the town.
The incident has put fear among the indigenes who are now calling on the Inspector General of Police, Greater Accra Regional and the National Security Minister to intervene to avert any bloodbath.
Speaking to the Republic Press about the situation at Prampram ahead of Homowo Festival, the Stool Father of Prampram Traditional Area, Nii Osabu Abbey IV, emphasised that there is no paramount chief or acting chief of the Prampram Traditional Council.
He said Kwaku Pome, the man who hired the service of the land guards is not a chief of Prampram and not recognised by the three royal gate of the royal family.
Nii Abbey said Kwaku Pome was installed chief of the Charwetey Family and he does not qualify to proclaim himself as paramount chief of Prampram.
He alleged that the three royal gates namely, the Abbey-Doku Mansro We, Tetteh Dzan-Larbi Agbo We and Kwei Opletu We, family have to restrained themselves last year during Homowo celebrations to avoid bloodbath from Kwaku Pome and his subjects.
“He told one of my brothers, warning him not to step his feet at the royal family during Homowo and that he doesn’t want him to be a victim to what is going to happen there,” Nii Abbey stated.
“We the (three royal gates of Prampram) are by this means calling on President Nana Akufo-Addo to order his security men to pay particular attention on Prampram come August 24, the day of sprinkling of Kpokpoi to avoid any clashes because there is a grand plot to invade the royal family,” he added.
Nii Abbey alleged that during the time of the Mankrado, Kwaku Pome and his men wanted to use unidentified macho men to block the road and sprinkle Kpokpoi and he was stopped but now that there is no Mankrado, they will carry on their act.
He called on all Ghanaians who are buying land from this self acclaimed chief to immediately abrogate the transactions and also dared Kwaku Pome and his subjects to defend the legitimacy in court than parading in town as champions
He said the group carried similar threat in 2018, 2019, 2020 and are on the verge of repeating same this year if the IGP and his men do not stop them.
The Stool Father appeals to security in the country to keep a keen eye on Prampram and it related currency issues until a substantive chief is appointed.
