Residents in Nkawkaw Ampekrom, a suburb of the Kwahu West Municipality in the Eastern Region have appealed to the Kwahuhene to intervene in a dispute involving the Queen Mother of Ampekrom, Nana Gyemfua Amonor whom they accuse of invoking a curse on the community.

According to the residents, the Queen Mother Nana Gyemfua Amonor allegedly invoked a curse on the town after members of the community demanded accountability for monies collected from families who organized funerals at the community’s durbar grounds over the past six years, as well as proceeds from a community pipe.

The alleged curse has created fear and tension among residents, disrupting daily activities and threatening peace and harmony in the town.

The residents recall that the Kwahuhene had earlier banned the invocation of curses on Kwahu land.

They are, therefore, calling on him to exercise his traditional authority by compelling the Queen Mother to reverse the alleged curse in the interest of unity and development.

Some residents who spoke to angel news expressed concern that failure to resolve the matter could negatively affect social cohesion and peace in the area.

They are hopeful that the intervention of the Kwahuhene will help restore calm and ensure peaceful coexistence among the people of Ampekrom.

The residents have also appealed to the Queen Mother to render accounts of the internally generated funds accrued by the community since 2019, warning that failure to do so could compel them to take further action.

The media contacted the Queen Mother on the phone. She indicated that she would offer an explanation in due course.
