Tepa Senior High School has emerged as the highest performers in the 2020 WASSCE in the Ashanti Region.
The Minister for Education, Hon. Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum on Monday, 31st May 2021, presented citations to twelve (12) Senior High/Technical Schools in the Ashanti Region for excelling in the 2020 West African Senior School Certificate Examination.
In all twelve (12) schools representing 10 percent of the 135 SHS in the Ashanti Region scored the highest marks cumulatively in eight subjects from A1 to C6.
The presentation which took place at the Golden Bean Hotel in Kumasi was aimed at motivating the schools to continue working hard to improve their fortunes and the development of the nation’s human resources.
This maiden award presentations will be replicated in the fifteen (15) other regions to motivate teaching and learning in our schools.
In attendance were the Ashanti Regional Director of Education, Madam Mary Owusu Afriyie, Head PR for GES, Cassandra Twum Ampofo, Heads of beneficiary SHS(s), Managers of Education Units, some teachers, students, and other stakeholders in the education sector.
Per the criteria Tepa SHS emerged the first, followed by St. Louis ,Toase SHS, Kumasi High, Ghana Muslim Mission SHS, and Prempeh College.
The rest were Wesley Girls, TI Amass- Kumasi, Opoku Ware School, Pentecost SHS-Kumasi, Mankranso SHS, and Osei Adutwum SHS taking the 12th position.
After the presentation ceremony, the Minister also inspected some ongoing projects at the Kumasi Anglican SHS and later commissioned a Girls Dormitory at Sakafia Islamic School.
