The National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia, has justified his recent thank-you tour.
He says the tour is to enable him, as the party chairman, to reconnect the party with the grassroots while governance continues.
“People across the country are applauding us for the victory; we give you the real credit,” he said in a meeting with branch and constituency executives, ward coordinators, former party officials, cadres, and Assembly members in the Asuogyaman Constituency on Wednesday, September 17, as part of a three-day “Thank You Tour” following the NDC’s election victory.
Mr Asiedu Nketia called for calm among all members of the NDC, assuring them that the Mahama administration will create opportunities for all.
Addressing concerns from members who have yet to be appointed to government roles, the NDC Chairman appealed for understanding, stressing that the leadership is working to ensure all loyal members get the opportunity to serve.
Mr Asiedu Nketia also warned against internal divisions, citing the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) as an example to avoid.“If we do what we want with the positions we have gotten, our party will be divided like the NPP’s. But I know that will never happen,” he said.
He added: “What NPP is now doing is a contest to hell. The flagbearer aspirants are criticising each other and are enumerating the sins and faults of each other.”
