The 16th Re: Akoto Memorial Lecture was the most successful memorial lecture in the history of Ghana politics.

The highly attended lecture with an unprecedented number of participants signified the approval of the legacy of Okyeame Baffour Osei Akoto for his peerless immense role toward the development of the modern New Patriotic Party (NPP), a champion of democracy, human rights and rule of law, and his sacrificial role toward the build of a democratic Ghana.

At the Great Hall of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) on Wednesday 28 April, 2021, the hugely attended Programme witnessed a gathering of great minds, political colossuses, legal luminaries, astute economists, eminent traditional leaders and aspiring lawyers for the 16th edition of the Annual Re: Akoto Memorial Lectures under the theme: “THE LEGACY OF BAFFOUR AKOTO: A FAMILY MAN, A CHIEF AND A STATESMAN.”

Son of the former statesman and legend, Hon. Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto, the Minister of Food and Agriculture, continuing the legacy of his father, gave the Keynote Address. In detailing his fatherโ€™s legacy, he indicated that, Okyeame Baffuor Akoto was an agriculturist, traditional and political icon, and an outstanding democrat who believed in the sanctity of human rights.

In attendance were the Former Speaker of Parliament, Hon. Prof. Aaron Mike Ocquaye; Attorney General and Minister for Justice, Lawyer Godfred Yeboah Dame; the Renowned Economist, Mr. Kwame Pianim; Representative of the Chief Justice, Professor Justice Sir Dennis Adjei; Representatives of the Asantehene, Metropolitan Municipal District Chief Executives (MMDCEs), Present and Former Ministers of State, Members of Parliament (MP), Constituency and Regional Party executives, lawyers, students, as well as other very prominent personalities from the political and academic fraternity.
