Nose mask sellers at the Kumasi Central Business District in the Ashanti Region are making good sales, following the resurgence of the spread of the coronavirus and the president orders during his 26th address to the Nation.
Speaking to some of the retailers at Adum, Bantama and Central market, they said demand for the item had gone up, making their business attractive.
A visit to the Kumasi Citi Market and Central market saw a lot of people rushing to buy nose mask from whole sellers while other individuals buy from vendors.
Ante Connie, a nose mask seller, said that people are buying the nose masks due to the reopening of SHS three and the also because of the security personnel who were enforcing the nose mask rules. Some of the buyers were mainly students preparing to go back to school and parents who were preparing their wards for school.
“Students are the people purchasing the nose masks because of the school reopening, also parents who had children in the SHS three.
Initially, the demand was low but since President Akufo-Addo addressed the nation, there has been an improvement in sales”, she added.
Ante Connie added that the increase of COVID-19 cases in the country had also fueled the demand for the nose masks, which was identified as the only means to reduce the risk of infection.
Some of the security personnel who were ensuring that people adhere to the COVID 19 protocol said, they could not understand why most traders and individuals in the Region who had bought the nose marks were not wearing them.
They said it was important for the people to adhere to the preventive protocols laid down by the government to help curb the spread of the virus in recent times.
