Thousands of Ivory Coast football fans gathered in the city of Abidjan on Monday, February 12, 2024, for their glorious trophy parade ceremony after they were crowned champions of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
The Elephants triumphed over Nigeria in the final of the competition on Sunday evening at the Alassane Ouattara Stadium, coming back from a goal down to win by 2-1.

The captain of Nigeria, William Troost-Ekong, had put them in the lead with just 7 minutes to the end of the first half to boost their chance of winning.
But the Elephants, who looked the better side, kept their composure in the second half and got the equaliser on the 62nd minute through midfielder Franck Kessie before Sebastien Haller added the second in the 81st minute to seal victory for his nation.

In order to enable the nation to enjoy winning their third AFCON trophy, President Alassane Ouattara declared Monday as a holiday.
The players were seen in a flatbed truck with the trophy, driving through the city, and finally making their way to the Félix Houphouët Boigny stadium for a trophy presentation.
