Three men are in police custody following the alleged lynching of Austin Tengeeh, a 26-year-old Liberian national, at Lashibi in the Greater Accra Region.

The arrests were carried out by the Sakumono District Police Command, which identified the suspects as Francis Amuzu, 44; William Adison, 36; and Vincent Adzikah, 34. All three are currently being held to assist with investigations.
According to police information, the incident occurred on Friday, February 27, after the Sakumono District Patrol Team received a distress call from an unidentified individual.
The caller reported that a man had been attacked and severely beaten by a group of people near the offices of the Electricity Company of Ghana at Lashibi.
Officers were immediately dispatched to the location, where they found a young man later identified as Austin Tengeeh lying unconscious. Police observed visible injuries around his neck and head, indicating he had been subjected to a violent assault.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the victim was allegedly mistaken for a thief by the group, leading to the attack. He was quickly transported to the Sakumono Community Hospital for emergency medical care. However, he was pronounced dead on arrival by medical personnel.
Following the confirmation of death, the body of the deceased was deposited at the Sakumono Community Hospital morgue. Police say this is to allow for further processes, including the observance of required diplomatic protocols due to the victim’s nationality.
In addition to the three arrests, the National Police Headquarters’ Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team has begun efforts to identify and track other individuals believed to have participated in the alleged mob action. Information gathered so far indicates that more suspects may have been involved at the scene.
Police investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident remain ongoing as authorities continue to gather statements, review intelligence, and trace additional persons linked to the attack.
