The Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, has announced plans to establish 24-hour business registration centres and a digital helpline to support businesses operating under the government’s 24-hour economy agenda.

Speaking at the Government Accountability Series in Accra on Wednesday, January 21, the minister said the initiative will ensure that businesses can register at any time of the day and access assistance whenever they need it, regardless of their working hours.

She explained that the move is aimed at making it easier for entrepreneurs and investors to do business in Ghana as economic activity increasingly extends beyond traditional working hours.

She said the digital helpline will operate round the clock to provide guidance and support to businesses, helping to resolve challenges promptly and improve overall service delivery.

Minister Ofosu-Adjare also disclosed that her ministry has drafted key legislation, including the Consumer Protection Bill, the Competition Bill and Business Regulatory Reform Bills. She said these proposed laws are expected to be considered in 2026.

According to her, the bills are intended to strengthen consumer protection, promote fair competition and improve the regulatory environment for businesses as part of broader efforts to create a more efficient and investor-friendly economy.

“We are also establishing 24/7 business registration centres and a digital helpline. Even as the 24 hour economy gather steam we want to make sure that you can also register 24 hours, you can have helpline within 24 hours so no matter what time of the day you are working, the helpline is available to help you.

We have also drafted the consumer protection, competition and business regulatory reform bills. These will also be dealt with in 2026 to protect the consumer and also guide competition.”
