In a recruitment scam, a 30-year old trader successfully swindled a female police officer of Ghc308,000.
Joseph Diawuo is said to have collected the amount from the police officer under the pretext of enlisting 46 people into the Ghana police service, Ghana Immigration Service and the Ghana Armed Forces.
Diawuo who lived at Dominase in the Ashanti region was able to convince the police officer residing at Airport Barracks in Accra to mobilize the unsuspecting victims.
The young man charged the victims between Ghc6,000 and Ghc10,000 to secure protocol slots in the aforementioned security agencies.
Thirty-eight of the victims paid Ghc6,000 each, making a total of Ghc228,000, while eight paid Ghc10,000 each amounting to Ghc80,000.
After taking the money, Diawuo is said to have organized medical examination for all the victims at a medical facility at Santasi in the Ashanti Region after which he reportedly went to into hiding and cut all channels of communication with the police officer.
The officer then reported the matter to the police.
He has been arrested, put before court and he has now been convicted to 4 a year prison sentence.
